It’s November 1: Happy All Saints Day to my fellow Catholics, and happy 1st day of NaNoWriMo to my fellow writers!
Joan of Arc is my favorite saint and Confirmation name, so I’d like to take this moment to send an appreciative kudos to Joan for her valiant contribution to the faith. She’s basically a French Mulan. Can’t get any more badass than that. I’ve always admired Christian martyrs in general. It’s definitely not easy to profess and die for your faith, especially back in the day, before guns, when weapons and ways of dying were much more slow and painful. Anytime I feel like I’m doubting or questioning the beliefs I was born and raised with, I remember the martyrs and their sacrifice so I won’t take the gift for granted.
I’m probably one of the few writers who does not, in fact, participate in NaNoWriMo, mostly because I’m busy studying for school and would rather write at my own pace, but I wish the best of luck to everyone taking on the challenge of turning out at least 50k words in a month.
